Bottom Row: Grover Beach Elementary, Judkins Middle, Grover Heights Elementary and the Adult Transitions Program

Over $6,000 of school supplies were donated between July 14th and August 14th.  The Supplies were sorted, packed and delivered to 11 of our schools during the last week in August and early September.  Half of the supplies are being stored and will be distributed in January once the second semester begins.  The school offices were so surprised and delighted to be showered with school supplies for the teachers!  Once again, thank you everyone who donated and volunteered and ran this very important “We Missed the Bus” Program.

Next Potluck

Our next potluck will be hosted by South SLO County Womenade on October 9th at 6PM at the 950 Room at 950 Cypress Ridge Parkway in Arroyo Grande.

As we mentioned in our last newsletter, our potlucks are our main method of raising funds for our clients.  We, like most non-profits, depend on our donors and volunteers to be successful in helping all the people we help in our community.  From time to time it is important to expand the organization’s reach and to foster a stronger sense of community and support.  Have you noticed - So often when we ask someone “Do you know about South SLO County Womenade? And they say no.

We invite each and every one of you to help us reach new audiences and boost new attendees at our next potluck events.  Please seriously consider inviting a friend to join you. Start talking with them about it now! We’d love to meet them and them to meet us!  Evites will go out the last week of September.

Laundry Pop-Up

On Saturday September 6th the Laundry Pop-Up 1st Saturday crew reports that it was another success!  They saw lots of familiar faces, but had a few new families. Not everyone accepted the offer and people are still making donations. A young man went next door to the bakery and bought each volunteer a sweet roll to express his appreciation.  The day started a little slowly, but almost every washing machine and dryer (that work!) were going when they left.
