What a View! It's Avila Beach!

Why Avila Beach? Well, first, it's really beautiful! Second, our next potluck will be at the Indian Hill Clubhouse at the San Luis Bay Estates in Avila Beach! It will be hosted by Ashely Hahn and her mother, Dana Senes on Wednesday, October 7th from 5PM to 7PM. It's at 6375 Firehouse Canyon Rd., Avila Beach. Mark your calendars! As always bring a dish to share, your place setting, a beverage. You can sign up on this invitation link https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/fall-2026-potluck-fundraiser
Here is a flyer you can print out and share with neighbors, friends and relatives.

Projects Updates
Help Needed! Nipomo Food Distribution – Rosemary Cleaves, Sue McCutcheon, and Mary Anne Morgan - project leaders

The September food distribution is this Tuesday September 8th from 4PM to 6PM at Nipomo High School. With school back in session, all our clients will have to walk up (rather than drive up) to receive the food (except for handicap and disabled people). It's our first time implementing this set up. We need a few more volunteers to help make it run as smoothly as possible. Please consider helping out. Email sslocwomenade@gmail.com if you are able to help on Tuesday. Thank You!
We work with SLO FoodBank, the Lucia Mar school district and our volunteers to make the Food Distribution happen.
Lopez High School Food Market - project leader Mary Anne Morgan

Every week Mary Anne Morgan orders food from the SLO Foodbank and picks it up in her pickup truck. She stores or freezes the food at the nearby Pacific View Academy until the Food Market at Lopez High School, which takes place every other week. On market day the staff and students meet Mary Anne in front of the school and unload her truck and set up the "market" for students and their families who need food. Mary Anne also orders the "extra" food that South SLO County Womenade packs and distributes at the monthly food distributions at Nipomo High School. This food is picked up from the Pacific View Academy on the second Tuesday of each month and taken to the food distribution.
We would like a few additional volunteers to learn the ropes of picking up and storing the food. We also are looking for additional volunteers to learn how we pick up the food from Lopez to take to the food distribution at Nipomo High School. If you have a pickup truck and would like to participate in these two great programs, please let us know by emailing us at sslocwomenade@gmail.com.
Lunch Buddy Program - project leaders Ann McDowell, Judy Woo and Jean Baker

The school year has started and the lunch buddy gangs are organized to make up over 120 weekend lunch bags for students 10 schools in our district who don't have food on the weekend. These students get a free breakfast and lunch at school during the week but some do not have any food on the weekend. We'd love to open it up to more schools but we need volunteers to sign up to do it. When we get enough volunteers we can contact another school to learn the number of children who are going hungry on the weekends. Each volunteer purchases and packs lunches for one or more students and delivers it to the school. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer. Here's a picture of a sample bag of food.
