Ongoing Programs

We have 3 programs that go on all year long.

Monthly Food Distribution

The second Tuesday of each month from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM South  SLO County Womenade volunteers gather in the parking lot of Nipomo High School  to distribute food from the SLO Foodbank and often additional food donated by Womenade. Families line up in  the car line or at the walk up line.  Since 2025 we have been giving out food to about 450 families each month. Families sign up and progress through our distribution process. Although we have a strong core group of volunteers, we often need additional volunteers to help with the packing of Womenade donated food purchased by Womenade from 4PM until around 5PM, or until 6:30PM to fill in if some of our core volunteers are not able to volunteer.

Laundry Pop Ups

The South SLO County Womenade's Laundry Project Team holds pop up laundry events at laundromats in South County locations. These laundry pop up events are opportunities where SSCW volunteers can connect with the community while alleviating the cost of laundry. For two hours, we offer to pay for clients to do their laundry that day until the 2 hours is up or we run out of quarters for the day.

Weekend Lunch Buddy Program

The Weekend Lunch Buddy Program is designed to address food insecurity for students in the Lucia Mar Unified School District. We are given a number of students by the office and then we deliver that number of weekend lunch bags each week. From now until the end of the school year we have two schools that need support. Fairgrove Elementary School needs 5 bags a week and Ocean View Elementary School needs 3. We have zeffy volunteer sign up forms for each school where you can sign up for one weekend and deliver the bags on Thursday between 10 AM and noon. If you wish to sign up for multiple weekends for one school, please start with one date and add additional dates on the second page of the sign up form or shoot us an email: sslocwomenade@gmail.com
