South SLO County Womenade really rocked the end of 2019!

.

Happy New Year from South SLO County Womenade!

South SLO County Womenade really rocked the end of 2019!  With 50 women attending the potluck on Tuesday December 17th at Candace Guldeman's home we raised $5,500 for our sponsored agencies, and another $2,000 was donated directly to the South Coast Youth Coalition to sponsor 20 students at $100 per student to attend Science Camp! That’s a total of $7,500!  Pat yourselves on the back for a job well done!

The total raised was $35,000 since we started this venture in February 2019 as a project under Ecologisitcs, and now as a stand alone non-profit South SLO County Womenade!

The next morning much of the wonderful leftover food was delivered to Lopez High School for the students to enjoy for breakfast and breaks.  The students helped carry in the food, and they were all eyeing the delicious treats they were going to share.

After the potluck at Candace’s we delivered checks to each of the agencies we sponsor with checks for $1,100 each!  I wish you could have seen the joy in their faces and shared in the gratitude they sent to all the Womenaders who made donations.  In addition to the financial donations, there were many gifts of detergent, diapers, toiletries, greeting card fronts, toilet paper tubes.  The agencies who attended worked collaboratively to make sure each agency received what they needed!  It was a joy to watch.

The Oceano School Readiness Program/First 5 has already provided 15 families in need of children's clothing with $30 Walmart gift cards; 10 families in need of food with $20 Vons cards for food and 2 families with transportation problems with bus passes.

There are two potlucks scheduled in February – A luncheon potluck on Wednesday,  February 26th and an evening potluck on Thursday, February 27th where husbands or significant others are welcome!

Please spread the word that we are trying to expand our reach by having more potlucks sponsored by people outside our core groups so we can grow the impact of South SLO County Womenade!  Please spread the word – calling Nipomo, Shell Beach, Pismo, Grover Beach!.  They can contact me at rosemary.cleaves@rscinag.comor call 860-951-2100.  Can be lunch, dinner, women, co-ed.  Womenade will come and tell everyone what we are all about and share our success.
