3/1/20 Results of February Potluck Fundraiser

Many thanks for all the money raised to meet a growing list of needs by our supported agencies.


The two February potlucks at  Lynn Heinrich’s home were a big success.  We had 40 women at the Wednesday luncheon and 22 people (including 4 men) at the Thursday dinner potluck.  We raised $2,000 on Wednesday and $1,500 on Thursday!  If you were not able to attend, it’s not too late to make a donation!

The current immediate needs from our sponsored agencies are:


The County Nurses

A  single mom looking for work and was recently in a car accident. Sheneeds a bus passto take her child to day care and look for work.  She just recovered from homelessness and the nurses do not want to see her go backwards again. 


Arroyo Grande Family Resource Center

  • A single father and his two young daughters are being evicted and will soon be homeless.He was able to connect with DSS to get some aid.The father needs bus passes for all of them and clothing and shoes for the girls.

  •  Single mom needs assistance with son’s football registration

  • A sister is caring for her younger brother and needs assistance to purchase a complete bed for him.

  •  Unaccompanied youth (Child in Transition) living with a friend needs assistance to purchase clothing and shoes

  • Single mom with child who has disabilities and trauma. Counselor recommends karate classes.Mom needs assistance with class fee.

Nipomo Family Resource Center

  • Unemployed single mother, currently looking for employment, needs assistance purchasing prescription eyeglasses for her son.

  • Mother is working two jobs due to father not being able to work because of health conditions. Parents need help with day to day expenses. Children need clothing and shoes.

Oceano Family Resource Center

  • Single mother (father is deceased) with 5 children (one with special needs) needs assistance with sports registration and for uniform and sports gear.

  • Family’s child experienced a traumatic event- child witnessed a pedestrian struck and killed.Counseling recommends sports and activities. Family needs help paying fees for registration and for uniform and cleats for child.

The Link South County Family Resource Center

  • Family of eight experiencing financial hardship. Father leaves for weeks at a time to work in Oxnard agriculture due to local harvest being out of season. Mother does not drive and needs help with food and basic necessities. Father needs assistance with gas.

  • Low-income single dad is couch surfing with a son. Father pays child support and travels to Fresno to see other children.He needs assistance with gas.

  • Single-mom of two children and is the main financial provider for the family. Children experiencing mental health issues.Sports participation helps with depression. Needs assistance with registration fees and uniforms.

Lopez High School

  • PBIS Initiatives - PBIS = Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports - started a "ticket store" for students to "buy" things as they earn tickets for exhibiting positive behaviors and changes in their lives and habits.  The students are very excited about the store launch and the ability to earn snacks, Lopez Gear/Swag, school items, fun things, and so on.

  •  Lopez High School also looking for 2 leather sofas 5 or 6'.  Prefer leather for better cleaning and wear and tear.  We have the truck to go get it/them if someone is open to donating.  

The Wolf Den at Lopez High School

  • The Nipomo Rotary Club will be purchasing a commercial washer & dryer for the students & their families uses at Lopez High School!! They need contributions of laundry detergent for these washers & dryers!!

  • Costco ladies hipster underwear - all sizes

  • Costco ladies sports bras - all sizes

  • Costco ladies leggings - medium & large

  • Costco men's crew socks - all sizes

  • Costco men's boxer briefs - small & medium

  • Also, Costco, Walmart & Target Gift Cards

The Nutrition Team

  • Need donations of weekend food for food insecure students:Packets of oatmeal, cans of chicken, dried beans, quart containers of shelf stable milk

Come join the fun.  Bring a dish to share, your dishes and utensils, a drink and a check made out to: South SLO County Womenade! We now have a rubber stamp so you don't even have to write all that in! Suggested minimum donation is $50 per person. Come hear about all our news and what the needs are in south county.  All contributions and donations stay in south county.  Bring along a friend or two.  You know we'll have a great time!


We are always collecting diapers, detergent, cooking oil, fronts of cards, toilet paper tubes, box tops for teachers, toiletries.
