First it's not too late to join the ZOOM Potluck fundraiser on this Thursday evening August 27th at 6PM! Email Jill Ostrovejillian.ostrove@gmail.comto be added to the ZOOM invitation! Jill has organized a fun meeting with a few new fun things. You know we always have the best food at our potlucks but can't enjoy it right now. Please share your favorite potluck recipes. We are still accepting recipes for our potluck recipe book. You don't have to attend to send in a recipe and you don't have to send in a recipe to attend. All attendees will receive a copy.
The Great Toiletry Collection Project
Lola Zybura, of Cypress Ridge, 2367 Brant Street, has been collecting toiletries for our sponsored agencies.She can be reached at lolazybura@gmail.com / 805.474.8484. Here is a picture of the first half of the collection. She's collecting until the end of August.
The Nutrition Team
We have officially moved the Nutrition Team to the Pacific View Academy (part of Lopez High School). Today we moved all the food that Kathy Cohl has been storing at her house and moving from the Mesa Middle School. Kathy has been the leader of this program for many years, starting first in Los Osos and San Luis Obispo and then here in Arroyo Grande. She has decided to step back from leading the effort but she's still going to pack bags! She donated two great storage shelf units to the program. This morning Kathy, Mary Anne Morgan, Sue McCutcheon and I loaded up all that you see in these pictures from Kathy's house and moved it to our new storage area. We met Bernie Dominguez, school counselor at Lopez, and set to work putting the shelving back together and loading the shelves with food that we will use for the Nutrition Team at Lopez. We have 3 teams of packers lined up and we will be having training soon to get the program started.
The school counselors at The Mesa and Judkins middle school nutrition team requested medium size lunch bags for their students. We have volunteers lined up to "adopt a buddy brown bag" for the students in need. Judy Woo, of Trilogy, has organized a number of people at Trilogy to "adopt a student buddy". We also have a few volunteers from outside of Trilogy lined up. Instructions and training is coming up in the next few days.
