POTLUCK
Our potluck on Wednesday March 16th was a great success with 36 fabulous Womenaders in attendance including 8 of our agency advocates. Many thanks to Lara Golden for hosting this event at her beautiful home and to all the other people who helped to make it a success We raised $2,100 that evening!

RAFFLE
Raffle – Our 2022 Raffle will take place at our next potluck taking place on April 26th at 3PM at 1793 Farroll Rd., Grover Beach. You don't have to be present to win.
$20 donation = 1 entry Unlimited entries! Donations from March 18th to April 26th, 2022 count! You can win more than once! Many Womenaders and local businesses have donated raffle prizes and they are wonderful including many hand made items, wines, beautiful art pieces, tickets, quilts and more! Donations must be made (checks/cash in hand) by the raffle drawing time at the potluck on April 26th. All donations received at the potluck will be entered in the raffle. Winners will be drawn at the potluck.
ADMIN APRIL
Our last “Admin April” was in 2020 and through the generosity of donors we raised enough to cover our expenses for two years. Our expenses are very small (approximately $3,000 a year and mostly for insurance) but they still exist. No one gets paid in South SLO County Womenade, and all our traditional funds raised (except Admin April) are used to meet urgent and emergency needs. We are beginning our fundraising for “Admin April” now. Please note “Admin April” in the memo line of your check. Checks can be made out to South SLO County Womenade and can be mailed to 1793 Farroll Rd., Grover Beach, CA 93433. If making a donation through Paypal (paypal.me/sslocwomenade) be sure to annotate that it is for Admin April. A few donors have already made donations earmarked for Administrative Expenses, and we are very grateful. Donations for this received after March 18th will count towards the raffle.

What is "Period Poverty"?
Menstrual products are expensive in the U.S. Studies have shown that 1 in 5 teens struggled to afford period products and 4 in 5 either missed or knew someone who missed class time because they did not have access to period products. 14% of women experienced period poverty ever in the past-year; an additional 10% experienced it every month. One-third of them used cloth, rags, tissues or toilet paper children's diapers or paper towels because they didn't have pads or tampons.
Research has shown that women with monthly period poverty were the most likely to report moderate/severe depression. Government benefits such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), do not cover the cost of these necessary supplies.
