A BIG THANK YOU FROM JUDKINS MIDDLE SCHOOL


Erica Andrade of the Link, Jami Wazniak, School Counselor, and the Student Leadership Team made and presented a huge Thank You poster to Womenade for all the support both financial and nutrition for the students at Judkins Middle School! Thank you to all our brown bag preparers and financial supporters!

Arroyo Grande Family Resource Center – Nayeli Salinas Benitez – new advocate

  • Single father homeless and experiencing anxiety. Needs help with food and transportation from work. $200 Food4Less card plus transportation

  • Mother currently trying to leave an abusive relationship and needs help with clothing for child.- $100 Marshall’s gift card

  • Mom of 5 needs emergency dental extraction due to abscess and Medi-cal will not cover nitrous-oxide. $70 Cali Dental

  • Open DSS Case needed emergency food card for single mom with kids- $50 Food4Less card

  • Father lost job due to COVID family struggling to pay rent $300 Mid State Properties (landlord)

Nipomo Family Resource Center – Zitlali Hernandez Pluma – new advocate

  • Mom is working part-time and family is struggling with food insecurities- $100 Vons gift card

  • Family is struggling with buying groceries due to job hour reduction- $100 Vons gift card

  • Family in need of clothing for children. $100 Ross Gift card

  • Family Needs Clothing for daughter since they returned to school - $150 Walmart/Ross gift cards

  • Mom needs financial assistance with gas, mom takes them every day to school $100 Vons/Chevron cards

  • Mom and her two children recently moved to U.S. settling in but has been difficult since mom is not currently working $100 Vons gift card

  • Some of the family have Covid. Mother cannot return to work until cleared. Loss of wages. No Covid pay. $300 California West (landlord)

  • Family of 5 got Covid and 2 members were hospitalized. Father passed away days later and there were no funeral funds in place. $300 Lady Family Mortuary

  • Single mother of three fled her abuser. The family is homeless and living in a motel. Children are in need of clothing $200 Walmart card

  • Outgrown his clothes father can’t afford to buy him new ones at this time $100 Walmart card

  • No gas heating(being repaired) family does not have a way to cook, in need of an electric skillet $50 Walmart card

Wolf Den – Heidi Boatman and Jann Jefferies

  • Student needs shoes $64.65 Vans store

The Link – Erica Andrade

  • A student was hit by a car while riding their bike and broke a leg and arm. Her parents are low-income and do not have enough funds to pay for gas to get to doctors appointments. $150.00 Visa (Gas)

  • A father has just been diagnosed with a rare cancer and has to travel to the Bay Area for various appointments. Mother has to stop working to take him to these appointments that may last for a couple of months. They're in need of gas funds to get to the cancer center. $200.00 Visa (Gas)

  • A Single Father of three has a temporary eye condition that does not allow him to drive. His older brother is driving him but is unemployed and does not have enough gas funds to take him to an important eye appointment in Santa Maria. $50.00 Visa (Gas)

  • A family has been served an eviction notice and they are looking for a new place but do not have enough funds to cover gas cost. Mother is on unemployment and father is not in the picture due to a pending divorce. $50.00 Visa (Gas)

Cypress Ridge Open Studio Tour Donations

Jewelry designer Tina Doherty, Ceramist Merrilee Donald and Sculptor Peggee Davis showed and sold their creations and shared 10% of the sales with Womenade during the Open Studios Tour in October! So far we have received $225! We are so grateful to these wonderful artists for their open hearts to their community!


Arroyo Grande Lions Club

We received a donation from the Arroyo Grande Lions Club for $200! We are very grateful


THANKSGIVING BASKETS – A MESSAGE FROM KRISTIN HEENAN PROJECT LEADER


Wow, thank you for your support and participation in the Thanksgiving Basket Project! I’m blown away by all of you! Food is piling up! Don’t forget to drop off your non perishables this week. If you are dropping off to Judy in Trilogy, drop off by 11/10, otherwise to Mariam and Sue by Friday, 11/12.

There are only 3 remaining food items left to shop for: Mexican Crema, Rolls and Pie Crusts.

Please drop off PERISHABLES to Mariam’s house on Thursday 11/18 5-8 PM or Friday 11/19 by 8 AM.

I have reached out via email to the delivery drivers and basket assemblers, if you didn’t receive an email from me about this, please let me know (kbertsch@gmail.com). We will be packing things up at Mariam’s house on the morning of 11/19 and delivery drivers will be delivering the food by 11 AM. It will be a busy morning! :)


CHIPOTLE FUNDRAISER



Mark your calendars! We have another fundraiser coming up on November 20th from 4 to 8pm at Chipotle in Arroyo Grande with their Do Good for Chipotle and 33%! of each participating meal coming to South SLO County Womenade. Our ordering code is ZYEDN77


In order for your purchase to count towards our fundraiser, you must either a) verbally tell the cashier of your participation, b) show a physical fundraiser flyer (above), c) show a digital flyer on a smartphone or other mobile device, or d) use our fundraiser’s online ordering code ZYEDN77 to place an order for pickup through the Chipotle app or website. Remember, delivery orders or orders placed at a different time/location than the scheduled event will not count towards our fundraiser.


COUNTY NURSES REQUEST

Melissa Richardson, a county nurse said she received the following from our last newsletter: cookware, other kitchen items and a set of full size sheets! Looks like the client could still use some towels, cleaning supplies, and a small Christmas tree and some ornaments and decorations, stockings for her and her daughter.
